David Gilmore is a gay rights activist with a very big voice and
a fierce passion for excellent radio. His deeply intimate radio
style has been called a cross between the Sun and This American
Life. He has received the Golden and Silver Reel from the National
Federation of Community Broadcasters and three Siegenthaler Awards
for excellence in journalism from the National Lesbian and Gay
Journalists Association. David began his broadcasting career
in 1980 working for a CBS affiliate in Florida before moving
to New York to work for HBO and the United Nations in their satellite
uplinking and audio divisions, respectively. He taught computer
graphics at Media Alliance and Center for Electronic Art and
ran a graphics business, the Digital Design Factory, in San Francisco.
His vision for Outright Radio is to bridge the gap between gays
and straights by moving listeners toward real compassion with
universally interesting stories.
He has received the Edward R. Murrow award, Golden and Silver
Reel from the National Federation of Community Broadcasters and
four Siegenthaler Awards for excellence in journalism from the
National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association.
